Glossary of Terms

Player: The name of the bullpen pitcher.

T: The throwing hand of the pitcher (L for left-handed, R for right-handed).

W: The total number of wins credited to the pitcher.

L: The total number of losses credited to the pitcher.

ERA (Earned Run Average): The average number of earned runs allowed per nine innings pitched.

G (Games Played): The number of games in which the pitcher has appeared.

HLD (Holds): The number of times a relief pitcher maintains a lead before passing the game to another reliever.

SV (Saves): The number of times a pitcher successfully finishes a game with a lead.

BSV (Blown Saves): The number of times a pitcher enters in a save situation and fails to maintain the lead.

SV% (Save Percentage): The percentage of save opportunities successfully converted.

IP (Innings Pitched): The total number of innings pitched by the player.

H (Hits Allowed): The total number of hits allowed by the pitcher.

R (Runs Allowed): The total number of runs allowed, including earned and unearned runs.

ER (Earned Runs): The total number of runs scored against the pitcher that were not the result of defensive errors.

HR (Home Runs Allowed): The total number of home runs given up by the pitcher.

BB (Walks): The total number of batters walked by the pitcher.

IBB (Intentional Walks): The number of walks that were intentionally issued.

HBP (Hit by Pitch): The number of batters hit by a pitch.

SO (Strikeouts): The number of batters struck out by the pitcher.

WP (Wild Pitches): The number of pitches that the catcher fails to catch, allowing runners to advance.

BK (Balks): The number of illegal pitching movements that allow runners to advance.

WHIP (Walks + Hits per Inning Pitched): The average number of walks and hits allowed per inning pitched.

AVGa (Opponent Batting Average): The batting average of opposing hitters against the pitcher.

OBPa (Opponent On-Base Percentage): The on-base percentage of opposing hitters against the pitcher.

SLGa (Opponent Slugging Percentage): The slugging percentage of opposing hitters against the pitcher.

OPSa (Opponent On-Base Plus Slugging): The on-base plus slugging percentage of opposing hitters against the pitcher.

ERA (Earned Run Average): The average number of earned runs a pitcher allows per nine innings.

xERA (Expected ERA): A predictive measure of ERA based on batted-ball data, strikeouts, and walks.

ERC (Component ERA): An estimate of ERA based on hits, walks, and home runs allowed.

FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching): A metric that evaluates a pitcher's effectiveness independent of fielding by focusing on strikeouts, walks, and home runs allowed.

dERA (Defense-Independent ERA): An alternative ERA metric that removes the effect of defense and focuses on pitching outcomes.

DICE (Defense-Independent Component ERA): A similar stat to FIP that adjusts for defense-independent outcomes.

SIERA (Skill-Interactive ERA): A sabermetric pitching stat that evaluates a pitcher's overall skill by considering how batted balls are put in play.

Pitching Ratios & Percentages

Str% (Strike Percentage): The percentage of total pitches thrown for strikes.

BB% (Walk Percentage): The percentage of batters faced who are walked.

BB9 (Walks per 9 Innings): The average number of walks allowed per nine innings.

SO% (Strikeout Percentage): The percentage of batters faced who are struck out.

SO9 (Strikeouts per 9 Innings): The average number of strikeouts per nine innings.

SO/BB (Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio): The ratio of strikeouts to walks, indicating control and command.

PFR (Power-Finesse Ratio): A measure of a pitcher’s ability to generate strikeouts while limiting walks.

LOB% (Left on Base Percentage): The percentage of baserunners left stranded by a pitcher.

GO/FO (Ground Out to Fly Out Ratio): A measure of a pitcher's tendency to induce ground balls compared to fly balls.

Pitching Performance Indicators

Dom (Dominant Starts): The number of starts classified as dominant based on low runs allowed and high strikeout rates.

Dom% (Dominant Start Percentage): The percentage of total starts that were dominant performances.

Dis (Disaster Starts): The number of starts where the pitcher performed poorly, allowing a high number of runs.

Dis% (Disaster Start Percentage): The percentage of total starts that were considered disasters.

Inherited Runners

IR (Inherited Runners): The number of runners already on base when the pitcher enters the game.

IRA (Inherited Runners Allowed): The number of inherited runners that the pitcher allows to score.
